Skye Edwards
Skye Edwards is a famous British singer and songwriter. Her parents called her Shirley Klaris Yonavieve Edwards. She wanted to have a short name so she took the first letters of each names and put them together. She was born on 27th May 1972 in East London. Skye is happily married to Steve Gordon. He is of Scottish origin but has come to London in search of work. This way he became a bass player of Morcheeba and fell in love with Skye. At the moment they are happy parents of three children.
She started her career as a singer in 1994. The Godfrey brothers (namely DJ Paul Godfrey and Ross Godfrey) and she united in a band and called it Morcheeba. Together they released 5 albums where Skye was a lead vocalist. In 2003 she decided to part from the band. Up to 2009 she managed to release two solo albums: in 2006 - Mind How You Go and in 2009 - Keeping Secrets. In 2010 she decided to return to Morcheeba and again became the lead singer.
The first album contains two well-known singles. "Love Show" was even a radio hit all over Europe. Perhaps this explains the popularity of the song in films and advertisements. For example, "Love Show" was used in a series of Grey's Anatomy third season. Furthermore, the song was also starred on the 5th season of Morangos com Açúcar that was the soap opera in Portugal. Then it appears in a commercial for a well-known 'Sun-kissed' body lotion' by Nivea on American TV.
Her second released album «Keeping Secrets» was made in October 2009. Skye made some new songs that can be listened to for free on her Myspace page. He also created a large number of online videos available to watch without charge.
In 2008 she was noticed to collaborate with one of the leaders of French band Nouvelle Vague, namely Marc Collin. Skye also sings a few famous songs such as, for example, "A View To A Kill" of Duran Duran from the film about James Bond.
Skye also sang Gorillaz "Feel Good Inc" on a famous radio station KCRW. Moreover, she also presented it at some live shows. They can be found in sections on her MySpace page. Skye worked with John Martyn, namely cooperation for the album Would Love This, produced in 2011. Skye Edwards sings the track called Solid Air. The song is from the album that has the same name but released in 1973.
Skye Edwards has participated in two charity collaborations. They are: in 1997 - Perfect Day in aid of Children in Need; then in 2004 - Band Aid 20 organized in aid of famine relief in Sudan.
